French movie night at Alliance Française de Cebu

Events

Last night, the community decided to have a taste of the French culture by joining the movie night at Alliance Française de Cebu, which comes with a dinner. The movie screening is for free and open to the public, the food's not though, but if you want a really French experience, so to speak, then a taste of some French cooking would make the experience somehow complete.

The movie screened was the 2007 biopic of the French sparrow, Édith Piaf (Édith Giovanna Gassion), La Môme. The film has received various awards including two Oscars for Best Actress (Marion Cotillard) and Best in Makeup for Didier Lavergne and Jan Archibald.

The food served are quiche lorraine, bœuf bourguignon, and a piece of chocolate macaron.

Such an enriching experience. And what made it even more memorable was the fact that Édith Piaf was a devotee of St. Therese of the Child Jesus! Coincidence?

Also took advantage of the unlimited craft beer, featuring MLhuillier's Bisaya Brew (5% abv), a pilsner with a tropical fruity aroma with hints of pineapple and guyabano with just a touch of the sweetness of honey. Very satisfying. The tap is better than the bottled one, which I tried at Lhuillier-owned El Mar Resort in Sogod last Monday.

Grateful for this amazing experience.
