Be a blessing

Thoughts

Are you able to give your whole self to the Lord?

This Sunday is the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time and our reading invites us to express our true love for the Father by giving everything that we have to Him, trusting in his goodness and mercy, that, as Our Father, He will surely not allow us to experience lack.

***

This is an act of faith, for how could we surrender everything that we have, all that we are, when we lack faith in God, our Jehovah Jireh, God our provider.

When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac (Genesis 22:1-19), he was prevented by God on the last minute and instead he found a ram entangled in a bush. This he offered to God and then named the place Jehovah Jireh, meaning, the Lord will provide.

As we continue to face the pandemic, let us strengthen our faith that God, Our Father, would not abandon us (Ps 38:21), would not turn his face away from us (Ps 27:7-9), but instead would embrace us and comfort us and will provide us with all our needs through the generosity of his instruments.

Let us also continue to allow ourselves to be God's hands and feet especially for those who are most in need at this time, and like the widow who offered her whole life to the church, let us also share the little that we have, trusting that God will also provide us with whatever it is that we need.
